The TDLR CE lookup tool shows which continuing education hours have posted to your license. Check it before you start your renewal — not after.

What the TDLR CE Lookup Tool Shows

Your TDLR online account lists every continuing education hour TDLR has recorded against your license. It pulls from what your provider reported. It does not pull from your own records or receipts.

Did you finish a course but do not see it listed? That does not always mean something went wrong. Providers have a reporting window. The next section covers that.

Run this check before you start your renewal. Finding a gap early gives you time to fix it before your license expires.

How to Use the CE Lookup Before Renewing

Check the TDLR CE lookup tool a few weeks before your renewal deadline, not the day your license expires. That gives providers time to report and TDLR time to post your hours.

Log in and pull up your license record to see every CE hour posted against it. Compare that list to your own completion certificates. If everything matches your required hours, you are ready to renew. If something is missing, you still have time to resolve it before your deadline.

💡
Timing Matters

Check the CE lookup tool 3–4 weeks before your renewal deadline. That leaves time for a provider to fix a reporting gap before your license expires.

What Counts as TDLR-Approved CE

Two things must both be true for a CE hour to count: the provider must be TDLR-approved, and the specific course must be TDLR-approved. An approved provider offering an unapproved course does not satisfy your requirement.

Online CE counts the same as in-person CE, as long as both of those approvals are in place. You cannot get credit for completing the same course twice in one renewal cycle — repeating a course does not add extra hours.

⚠️
Check Both Approvals

An approved CE provider offering an unapproved course does not count. Verify the specific course appears on TDLR's approved list, not just the provider.

If Your CE Hours Are Missing

Hours can be missing from the lookup tool even when you completed a legitimate course. Work through these steps before your renewal deadline.

  1. Confirm at least 15 days have passed since you finished the course
  2. Check that both your provider and the specific course are on TDLR's approved list
  3. Contact your CE provider directly and ask them to confirm they reported your completion
  4. Search the lookup tool again by your license number, not by your name
  5. If hours are still missing after 15 days, contact TDLR directly at (800) 803-9202

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the TDLR CE lookup tool?

Log into your TDLR online account at tdlr.texas.gov/App_Online/. Once signed in, your license record shows every CE hour TDLR has recorded against it. (tdlr.texas.gov/verify.htm is a separate, no-login tool for checking basic license status only — it does not show CE hours.)

How long after finishing a CE course before it shows up?

Providers have 7 days to report completion and 15 days to issue your certificate. Hours can take up to two weeks to appear on the lookup tool.

Can I renew my license if CE hours are not showing yet?

TDLR will not process your renewal until required CE hours appear in its system. Check the lookup tool early enough to leave time for a reporting delay.

Does the same CE course count twice if I retake it?

No. TDLR only credits a given course once per renewal cycle. Retaking the same course does not add extra hours toward your requirement.

What if my CE provider never reports my hours?

Contact the provider directly to confirm they reported your completion. If hours are still missing after 15 days, contact TDLR at (800) 803-9202.

I found TDLR's old CE course-search tool but it does not show anything. What happened?

That tool has been retired and now redirects to the TDLR homepage. Use your TDLR Online Services account instead to see your actual CE record.

If I hold multiple cosmetology licenses, should I check the lookup tool for each one?

Yes, especially right after finishing a stacked CE course. TDLR should apply one completion to every individual cosmetology license you hold, but confirm it posted to each before renewing.
